The real worm of the earth

He hit 17 like a worm in compost
poking up and wriggling insanely
falling onto the topsoil exposed
allured attracted vitality surging

but like a worm still blind
seeking the warmth of the brood
of the decomposition and darkness
aimlessly sewing through the mess

once up to the sunlight its all shock
for the worm mistook itself for the soil
once alone and exposed disoriented
The sun an unscrupulous judge dries him

Into a thin shred of purple red leather

That backward hormone

 Backward toward wellington
he wore red under his clothes
Barely a man
convincing me of his narrative

before hell existed
clean paved roads
sloping downward and backward
existing into the past

towel over his hair
scared eyes hopeful
Back through Porirua
where new life hung from streetights

where drizzle blurred reality
clouded it with exhausting dreams
where other worldly entities interfere
Where they confuse, antogonize and jeer

The bully smile of a night
The baseball bat impact of a night
His pale skin trembling
for backwards into thse storm of a past

What is a garden?

what does one seek in a garden
Peace? Food?
Crops or amenity
nature simulated?

Symbols of what a garden could be
vitality
fertility
a living temple

Divine mistakes

 To err they say
Over a lifetime
is like walking on two feet over the earth

when they teach us how ugly our error is
we must bow our heads humbly
recieve the insult

Simple folk who seem to think of themselves as adults
the infant mind glaring out
doling out blame

a new cycle of embedded err
Paint children
call them wrong

Here stand the generations that make society
with appearances
we should imitate

One leg through school
very arm
like following in footsteps even doomed ones

bias are our veins
our personal life and death
Our typical choice in vice as mice vaccinated and spliced

they teach us there are no second chances
painted children hands open minds too
a destiny in some algorithm

holly cost

The wretched drude
it dresses itself in low pine
seasons blanket
nights sinister grin

the bark of the tree
the wooden panels of the houses
the Drude ensconced among the undergrowth
eyes in the air

crawling up the street twigs marching alive
the pavement smiles
gestapo lips

The wretched Drude
it lurches forward whining in a low tone
freezing surfaces
wiley holly bent out of shape

Drooping prickly leaves
beneath the serpent fearful frowns
The drude conjures seedling roots

seedlong into the settlement
an attempt at a smile
complicit ears and mouths

Those footsteps creating a one way road
away from life
up through a chimney

The cursed leaves were not oaken
they were prickly ilex
viscum album in the zyklon fogs of abaddon

Unholy gluttons

 Fasting comes during the fall
gods happy wall
fasting such a small sacrifice
a hungry smile

A stomach growling
such a holy thing
a growing urge to eat
halted by a salty morality

After the fall
The fall of winter
The fall of Christ
The fall of darkness

From the gateway of lack
the mouth and stomach restless
looking out with veiny eyes
upon the blinding coming summer

summer when hundreds lived
food was scarce yet people shared
after the spring
after heat waves

those many hours of light
each day brightening
more and more
it goes by so fast

Not a glutton upon the season

The bump

pulsating up this vein like a bolt of lightening
human history a blinkshot
high speed moment like water through a hose
bursting out on the present like a spray of our reality

this little human experience
a blip on the radar
a worms kick
suddenly your standing talking and pretending to be a person

what a road this is
that we have built
that we wear down with vehicles
like bodies through houses

coursing through those predestined set years
the tunnel of time as it were
then barreling out absorbed by the ground and air
non the wiser
