that imposed
She died lifting a mild smile
under the blankets and family support
what warmth
The heart contends with many dramas
Grief of loss scratches from within
like an imposter
Death thus becomes formal
people hide feelings
well executed masks of chipper
To contemplate her days in darkness
what she was what she left
I never knew her strength
yet the last image was of her smile
the long path many take unsatisfied
both the search and the discovery
some smiles seem suddenly authentic
outshining even when the climate was abrasive
even as the body betrayed itself
A strength many will come to envy
