Quest toward the afterlife

We Satan, We God
The egg and the semen
The benevolent angel, The malevolent demon
the negative shake, a positive nod

The handshake in light, the three pronged scolding prod
My heart divided between...
The shade's haven for parastitic creatures
The light's home for symbiotic beings

As we stand in the corridor halfway between birth and death
naked and vulnerable blind to ourselves, eyes on the rest
Pleading in a whisper
To not be devoured in the twist

Age a violent giant treading on us to get over the mountains
the ones we climb half blind toward mirage afterlife fountains
half frozen, half burnt searching for meaning and belief
Our hearts safely stored in caves, while our bodies continue to climb empty

Have you seen heaven yet, even in a dream and if so tell the tale
Have you seen hell already does it match our infinite portrayals
does it reflect life's agony and ailments
Does either make us wiser

or are they both just punishments and prizes
We little impatient demons and angels
in lives we struggle to handle
and struggle to accept the extinguishing of our very own candles
