Life wide, without sleep

The sleep rolled out and tapped me
awake it said and there I was
middle of the day, not a word to say
To my why, no because

Sleep rolled out like the tide
Like a carpet wet
out of the day
my own duty beneath me, I above

I above fruitful
Each gear of the day
morning afternoon and city play
I all through it, continued rhythm

Sleep rolled onto the edge of his face
He similar to me, the man, a simple period of time
He wednesday and she, she my night, the hair
My own duty beneath me, I in love

I´m in a love so useful
One that´s even warmer than it used to be
One that scares off sleep
One that´s life wide and about that deep

Saboteurs in second place

Some may live to sabotage
their gas station rigged to blow
Their goal to rip someone down
Though I and mine won´t be caught bathing in the ugly

Some terrible stench of fear pouring off the saboteurs
I will not stink as they do nor smell their odour
As they attract the sharper teeth between us
As they are torn apart by terror

It belongs to them strapped fast
the symbolic chalice now recieved and passed
Culprit well stuck in the chair of proxy
Oh what a tangled web we weave

not a shred of credit
gone like Southern autumn leaves

Humble beginnings

Subtle changes in the coloring of the wooden floor planks
Heat brings out a smell in them
So many shoes have walked over them
so many little marks are born into them

Sweat falls onto them and footsteps polish them
Brown and yellow like the color of honey
like a soft gold like hue that lights me up
Speckled and warm under the music filled air

The clanking and ringing
I, it is I that walk that floor now
I, who pretend to ignore it´s enticing patterns
as my head seeks some place above the horizon

Artificial lakes

Holiday in a muddy carpark
A place where people´s excitement meets
The lakes the shape of octogons
Yes the shape of optimism

At the top of the hill looking down on them
The bright grey cool and shiny beaming up to our morning eyes
reflecting the clouds silver lining
little seagull waves appearing and disappearing

Shape of the water´s round edges
people´s personalities all joining to be a piece of it
not be left out to hold the water in as if it needed it
Trying to contain something that so easily drains

The story of so many people´s lives written, read and told
on the margins of those lakes
Etched into the banks and inscribed in the long flat lines
of the reed leaves

Ambition stirs that water stops it from becoming stagnant
There must be life, but only if it wants to live

The bear is aware

Polar bear with a patch
Out here in the wilderness
eating logs just to get to us
Ambition on his paws

Climbing out of the icey water
The salamander out of fire
Pursuing doggedly
An old injury across it´s face

Most people live in those man made clouds
Head in them until death
But the world is changing underneath them
Along the icey riverbank

Precariously ambling along the margins
Polar bear fodder

Call it bliss

Call it a whistle
That feeling that almost makes it´s way into sound
That makes the swirling stomach go round

Call it the gut feeling of something good
Feel it midweek disabling the blues
Feeling more the wish and less the should
up through the body from inside the shoes

Call it a skip in your step
out of subway tunnels on to sunlit central city streets
Call it a fine boiling in your depths
The inner essence of you from head to feet

Call it harnessing the energy, that lasts
To wallow in it as if it were a bath
When you know your route clearly, you´ve a spiritual mast
Attending to the dramas of yourself and your other half

 Call it till it comes
and call it into being
Life astonishes us
with it´s bliss in busyness

Turn the Paige

Counting each day until you turn three
You, sunshine in the summer every little movement
every plant, insect and tree
Every day Paige, every hour, every moment
Life's short you see

Sadly I'm not there to hear your chuckle
Or give you my hand, or a love felt cuddle
Turn around in the garden, there maybe a glimpse of me
For part of my spirit exists inbetween the leaves

I know if I wish you a happy birthday, my friend luck will
All my best wishes floating to you like a bubble
from where I am, over seas we can't swim
Imagine anyway, I've my made myself thin

So I can fit into these words as they make their way into your ears
Let me give you a thousand smiles and zero tears
Over the westerly fields as the Easter bunny spreads chocolate cheer
You, summer sunshine niece, lose nothing but fear

Even in the autumn as you swim your life's water
be blessed as you turn the Paige, Luke's second daughter

Politically impaired

Who is playing after the crucifixion
Who´s going to be on the field after the quick fix
Oh I love a good hanging, wring the scape goats neck
Crooked politicians will be able to get back to business instead of doing time
as soon as you oust the first woman president for their crimes

Who will be playing after the execution?
Who? Santos and Switzerland oh this is the best!
mummies boy and the foreign investor
we´ve conveniently forgotten their messes

I´d just like to pat them on the back for their courage and gumption
Takes guts to blame a woman with power for a world crisis and multi billion dollar corruption
Takes brains to distract a nation, embeezle it´s financial resources and blame the naiive beaver
Then get her impeached while few try to reach for that ficha suja of yours you leaches.

Applause to you good sirs who have held the country back a hundred years
socially, economically, technologically selling religion football and underwear
And they still buy it like it was new and fresh they don´t care
Overloaded trains and water restrictions have no fear
You´ve tamed a submissive population, one indeed politically impaired

lab time

The official lab poem (just for fun)

Keep your ear on the phone
Listen for word stress and voice tone
Hear each word as around the booths you roam
Correct politely even when students groan
Smile even when their frown is showing
Lab teacher- You are not alone!

Encourage students to repeat and ask what it means!
As they read from situations all over the screen
Their eyes darting to record each line,
To speak their sentence just in time

So much new English echoing in their minds
Their tongues wrap around each word they find
Over time and in their mouths words start to glue it seems
In pursuit of that prize possession we all call fluency

Lab teacher- Notice their obvious signs of frustration
each one a step toward good pronunciation
each improvement a piece of proof
not a second is wasted
working at the booth!

The predictable pain of a journey

You are right I cracked the road
an overgrown horse right overloaded

Crack is spreading up toward the town yonder
Where the world points and cheers that is where I must wonder

Wearily the road hard and abrasive bet
not a blade of grass or drop of wet

And on move I continuing toward the chaos
entering it with momentum like a tycoon through strippers

Across the town like a monsoon drifting
straight into their taverns and up against their shopfront windows
gasping for a breath of fresh culture

Human cattle on the line

Stuffed into the wagons
we the human cattle
good for this unstable economy
pushing into and out of stations like mince meat
through the grinder

We the human cattle
not complaining
opinions well diluted
by the high contente of apathy

Forcing ourselves into the crowds
The elderly suffocating
hands going where they don´t belong
and epidemics spreading 1000 times faster

Unquestioning human cattle
useful person power
zero opinion, zero reflection
temporary pain and suffering
and then they are off, back to dreams about soap operas and football

My day dream is Maira

She is not plain
Though I get home she's tired and tame
After these fast hours of work who could blame her
So I go to bed as well to dream of her on display

The softness of her skin
a touch so innocent
Thoughts of her are all sent
the ones that cook up day dreams plenty

Why do few hours pass before I miss
before I again hunger to kiss
to feel her in that arrival hug
To see her simple gesture, a nod, a smile, a shrug

Why does all that matter to a man such as I
Is it all just fussiness that falls short of defining
me
Somewhere in her heart are glimpses of that guy
The one that sums me up from the hemispheres of
 laugh and cry

The day wears on
often so do dreams, shining till they've shone
desires that seem to appear
no notice, reminding us of how we care

My day dream is Maira
Every imagining almost acquires
Her rare beauty, her raw love, her fire
I'm her not so secret admirer
