The turnaround

He had lost a lot and was a dear friend to me
Innocence and pain in his eyes hate you'd never see
Into acceptance of the ill truths he now openly nods
Grandeur his for not blaming god

Greatness his for loving
Loving when his object of loving was thrown back into the sky
Loving when lack of love and grief feasted on his days
Loving a friend as I unreliable and questioning

He had lost about the hardest thing to lose
The thing that threaded his life together
Gave it purpose, giggling and real peace and quite a lot
magnificence his for not blaming god

greatness his for going to his side when god offered nothing
greatness his for recognizing the gift of life  even though given briefly
Given briefly but still filling a hole in his heart that neither grief nor despair could leach
Overcoming the worst of life's tragedies with perseverance, love and faith!
