Unholy gluttons

 Fasting comes during the fall
gods happy wall
fasting such a small sacrifice
a hungry smile

A stomach growling
such a holy thing
a growing urge to eat
halted by a salty morality

After the fall
The fall of winter
The fall of Christ
The fall of darkness

From the gateway of lack
the mouth and stomach restless
looking out with veiny eyes
upon the blinding coming summer

summer when hundreds lived
food was scarce yet people shared
after the spring
after heat waves

those many hours of light
each day brightening
more and more
it goes by so fast
