The baby rabbit in it's shell
The animal kicking inside it's easter egg
The gardens around the homestead filled with curious children
Wanting to touch and own the animals
One child in particular had become enamoured to the egg
And grabbed it and started to think of ways to reach it
To help it escape from it's outer shell
Mostly as to hold it
This baby rabbit wasn't coming out
The child carried the egg it was in, around
like a sacred artifact over the grass
Through the mud, over rocks
The child carried the baby rabbit everywhere
Into the house to see inside the egg's small hole
To the child's despair the rabbit was dead
Too much shaking and wanting
