Soldier and the sandhill(inspired by Robert Frost)

The soldier demoralized
His carbonized brokendown tank it´s barrel
half submerged horizontally in a sandhill
The earth welted from exploding shells
Blackened sand spotted with bullet holes
as if the rabbit himself was called to war
Shrapnel ridden corpses halfway up
the accursed sandhill soaking up thick blood
Mortarshells propelled toward the enemy
hit the top of the mound out of range
The sturdy sargeant reached the upper
regions of the slope only to detonate
a dud shell lodged in sand between him
and the top
Part of his corpse was lauched into
the enemies lunchtime circle
they didn´t eat well that day.
