Carnaval in a pale

Morning heat is already disagreeable
In the town shade, feel something to be gleeful about
The breeze warm and soft something that pleases
That starts the day off, few drops of ease and
no bother

The streets never cooled as crowds dance
Mixed up in that drink and color
That cheer and that sheer joy
not reachable at any other time of year
bless them all

Their costumes must have gotten sticky
and their legs after so much movement weary and wacky
yet most would keep up the boogie until the sun came back
Like those thick candles that hold the flame to the wick
Even as summer storm winds trick

Legs skip and step a subtle samba twist
Arms sway and hands wave on happy Brazilian wrists
As all day the celebration plays in the hot sun's simple bliss
What a wondrous event and if I could guess
hundreds of Millions abroad have it on their bucket list.
