A grin in the woods

One as strange as you Elijah
One whose sensitivities are worn across that changing grin
That supermarket sign of a grin Elijah
That part of you that shamelessly advertises

It's not for your height
Nor your strength
It's not for your intellect although it can spell "appeal"
It's that provocative grin and the restless spirit behind it

With such volume does a peasant as I, hear your irony
through your grin
It deafens me, yet still qualifies you above the hoard
of mediocre celebrities

Yes a study you are, avoiding Tarantino fists
and Peter Jackson kicks
And through it all that grin
Lashing across their questioning faces

Oh Elijah longing to be your own man
To grow an imposing vocal chord, speak and win
Be your own producer, abandon the monotony
Of that cheeky grin
