Rockstar's soiree

Arriving at the party the eyes on automatic driveway scan
The car door wouldn't lock
I Stopped to ponder the possible party goers and well wishers
Ignoring panic at the fact the vehicles were not completely locked

Entering the house I saw innovation's hand waving bravely
An inviting smile on his face that greeted me and provoked anticipation
A voice whose calculated boasts contained such bold certainty
one would seem altogether ridiculous to even consider questioning him

Then I saw lust after fame tempting cameras to speak
Wearing a feather plumed hat, auto attention seeking
Certain poses struck and effective rhythmic utterances of the trendsetting intention
Under the picture of spontaneity yet his calculating hands firmly fixed to the bench

But spontaneous had a falling out with disenchanted and left soon after innovation's boasts
In fact the only unexpected event from that time on
was the unexceptional arrival of vanilla mainstream
The party people's music and conversation had become amazingly pedestrian

According to snobbery

Garden variety fish
The shrubs not cut to form their perfect shapes
The  project not finished to be marveled at for a day
The whims of our monopoly pro society owners

Barbecue variety fish
A species that could feed a family for a week by it's price
But give little more than a meal with it's flesh
According to the rules of snobbery, the hired help were made aware

Monopoly pro society owners
Playing each square of the board
Low and high pitched laughing tones practiced in the mirror for months
Drearily critical according to those sacred rules of snobbery

A stake in honesty

Honesty has it's own worth in the currency of love
That commodity honesty is refined when it humbles us and exalts others
And when criticism is delivered delicately the value of honesty rises
When it is delivered as a rebuke or abruptly it is blunt change you offer to another

For honesty can only be measured in the currency of love
When you are honest to hurt others your truth is but nonfiction loaned by lies
And worth a hundred times less than a white lie told in the name of compassion
For a white lie told to save a life fetches a high price at love's auction

There I long to be, where sense and compassion sit bidding to make their fortune
from simple people who invest in honesty even when it seems like a balloon
Heavy truths may weigh well in the bank of thoughts but confound
For those who deal in honesty, their stock in love is sound

One more storm not to crash in

Half a cloud to get back home
In a very disorganized realm
Half a cloud to ponder above
We who break through storms to return

The skies sweating to bring us back
So trustworthy they are
If our baggage gets lost after landing so be it
If the clothes on our back are all we have to face the world in so be it

We are not birds without feathers
We are but poorly clothed landers who've arrived in bad weather
our water and surface traps us and our senses give us limited freedom
Yet for that little we get, I send a million thankyou's

We add so much to these outer layers
Traveling through the layers of the atmosphere dressed in metal
Above the clouds whose shapes we ponder on for hours
I send a million moments of confusion from there my lost baggage I don't want back

For these brief and giddy moments of clarity feed as much as thrill my spirit
And life is such a challenge to balance few can actually claim this merit

Beach garden drama

Hiding under the banana leaf
Protected from the sun, six legs and a life so brief
Next to the beach's cactus garden
The sand crab ambles underneath

Dry hot breezes come through the sandy cactus city
Carrying sand and eating the little humidity
The sand crab stirs and exits his cover to risk a snack
An ant attempts to find shade as the crab scuttles like a road hungry taxi

yet hesitates for out of the corner of his erected eyes is a shadow that forms a grin
For the beach falcon one kilometer above has spotted the little red crustacean
And in seconds will be upon him bearing down to fix his own bite to eat
A shattered shell and a sharpened beak through his flight does the falcon speak

Love, the word easily spoken, hardly enacted

Sandy slumber that gives words but not shovels
Callus our hands and drain the sweat from our brows
Leave deep sealed holes that will be covered
After heavy rains meet this dried up part of the world

Faith in the beast and the fruit
In the pasture and the flower
Although overall most agree and sympathize
Their fingers are suddenly cramped and lifeless when it is time to put love to work

Faith in the field and the forest
I feel we must combat the lack of it
Those who flirt with hopelessness yet have enough to save hundred of us
God where do they hide their vampire fangs and what is their purpose here

The vulture watches big ankles

These lost folks, big ankles and lots of obvious distractions
For those who can not see or hear the subtle tunes of nature there is superstition
These folks who married in, walk with heavy ankles the size of knees
grins that fall into frowns half lost in their existence necks that can't turn round

These folks who rush into lines push in front and maintain little to no notion of those around them
Riches passed down like legends they are mere legacies with no obligation of becoming something
Save thick below the knees
Oh our blessings have gone directly to them in their ways of life, I judge not, rather observe

These people who believe we are at the top of the food chain
We have been converted into vultures convinced of our rights
Oblivious to our responsibilities
Fools cry for the easy and fast solutions

Most of them doubt god has any hand in evolution!
