The maddening of the motorist and pedestrian

Busy city streets, groups of people walk together like herds
Like prey
Like they are being threatened
like they're becoming extinct

They are all trapped by the same ideas
but you can't read their minds
Sometimes they're divided by the traffic
What is this vulnerable species we call the pedestrian

And how foreign when inside the moving glass you travel
How particularly them and us does it get
declarations of war and desires of sickest kind are sent across zebra crossings
the non stoppers taking on another few pounds of unwanted bad karma

Lunchtime gangs that cross the street anywhere shouting at bikes, kicking vans
Cars back up to make parking spaces before horn brawls cause what's uncalled for
A knee, a hip, a leg is clipped and a thousand curse words join a promise to sue
Oh powerless pedestrians on foot and the conscience motorists will never grow

The majority swap roles forgetting they were once a driver or a walker
